Guest Speaker Discusses the Importance of Character Based Decisions with GMC College Athletes

As part of the institution's "Total Courage" character education program, the Georgia Military College Athletic Department welcomed guest speaker MAJ Christopher R. Pevey to campus Tuesday morning to speak to college athletes and members of the cadet leadership on the importance of living a character based life.

MAJ Pevey spoke to the student athletes as one of their own as well as a member of the US Army.  MAJ Pevey is a graduate of Prince Avenue Christian School in Athens, GA and went to a small college in Tennessee as a baseball and basketball player before transferring to the University of Georgia and earning a scholarship as a member of their basketball program led at the time by Coach Jim Harrick.  After graduation and working for a year, MAJ Pevey decided to join the Army, enrolled in OCS and then went to Ranger School.  He has since excelled in the Army and currently serves as the Executive Officer of the 82nd Engineer Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas. MAJ Pevey shared in numerous instances how making character based decisions impacted his life in a positive manner, both in his athletic and service careers.  "I can tell you without question that character based decision making and living a principled life has made all the difference for me," commented MAJ Pevey.

The Total Courage Program seeks to provide world class character training and works to reinforce in youth the absolute necessity of leading a principled, character based life.
