Thad Turner is entering his first season as the Defensive Coordinator for the Georgia Military College Bulldogs. Turner joined GMC after a successful tenure as the defensive coordinator at Dodge City Community College, where he played a crucial role in revitalizing the program. Under his leadership, the Conquistadors achieved their first Bowl victory in program history by defeating the New Mexico Military Institute, forcing five turnovers. During his two seasons at Dodge City, Turner’s defense reduced points allowed per game by 17.9 points.
Before 2022, Turner spent five seasons coaching high school football in Georgia, with positions at Whitefield Academy (Wide Receivers), Towers High School (Defensive Backs), and Pace Academy (Running Backs).
Turner’s collegiate playing career at Ohio University saw him transition from Wide Receiver to Cornerback. As a standout player, Turner started 24 games in his final two seasons, leading his team to two bowl games in 2007 and 2009. He then signed as a free agent with the Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, and Arizona Cardinals.
Coach Turner is married to Jessica, a nurse in the United States Air Force Reserves, and they have two daughters, Zoe and Chloe. The Turner family is excited about the new opportunities at Georgia Military College and looks forward to significantly impacting the program.
