GMC Athletics Hires Josh Miller as Head Golf Coach

The Georgia Military College Athletic Department is pleased to announce that Josh Miller will be the new Head Coach for the Golf program.  Coach Miller will be taking over a golf program that has gone through alot of changes over the past year.  The golf program will have 8 new golfers for next year, with 3 of them coming from overseas.  The completion of the indoor Mason Golf Performance Lab is imminent and several new courses have been secured for practice next season.  GMC will also be hosting for the first time ever a collegiate event at Harbor Club at Lake Oconee in the spring of 2017. 

"We are pleased to have Josh join our coaching staff to lead our golf program.  There has been a wonderful history with the program with a National Championship in 2005 and several National Championship appearances.  We believe with Josh's leadership and passion for golf, our program will be in the mix each year at the national level", stated Sean Gillespie, Assistant Athletic Director. 

Coach Miller graduated in 2010 from Georgia College with a Bachelor of Art in History.  Received a Master of Art in Teaching degree with a major in in Secondary Education at Georgia College in 2011 and a Master of Education with a major in Instructional Technology from Georgia College in 2014.  He also received a Graduate Certificate from the University of Georgia in e-Learning Design in 2015.

He is currently working at Georgia Military College as an Online Course Developer in the Office of Online Education Development since July 2015 after working four years at Georgia College in IT and as a part time faculty member in the College of Education.

Josh is an accomplished golfer that has a deep knowledge and passion for the game as well as a desire to invest into the lives of the student-athletes.  This past year he was on the coaching staff for the GMC Prep golf team and helped lead them to a 3rd place finish in the GHSA Class A State Golf Championship, their best finish since 1996.

"I'm thankful for the opportunity to take the golf program at GMC to the next level and excited to get to work with the great talent that we have coming in this year.  The facilities here on campus and the partnerships we have made in the local golf community will give us the tools we need to immediately compete at a high level", Coach Miller commented.
