GMC Men's Golf finish 3rd at Reinhardt Invitational

The GMC Men's Golf team finishes in 3rd place out of 9 teams at the Reinhardt University Invitational held at Callahan Links, in Waleska Ga.  The Bulldogs started the second round four shots out of first place, but were not able to close the gap, as the host Reinhardt Eagles pulled away with a team score of 285 for their second round.  The Bulldogs finished with a two day total of 595 to just miss out on second place held by Bryan College, who posted a 593.

On day two, the Bulldogs got strong performances from both Floris Veth (FR, Netherlands) who shot another round under par, 70 and Ashton Denton (FR, Thomasville GA) who also posted a 2 under round of 70.  Floris Veth's two day total was good enough for a second place finish as an individual with a two day total of 138, 68-70. The team will take a couple days off and will return back to practice as they prep for their next competition.

Head Coach Josh Miller said, "Taking a group of freshmen to compete with four year schools in their very first tournament was a tough assignment. We were in the thick of it to the very end and our guys fought to post a solid team score. There's a lot of work to be done, but the experience we gained this week is great for us going forward."

The Bulldogs will next be in action on October 6th when the will tee it up against Oxford-Emory University for a one day match play event at Harbor Club in Greensboro, Ga.
