In Game One Darton State College(2-4) jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the top of the first. Darton State College's threat began with a single by Billie. McClellan homered, bringing home Gabriel and Lester. Darton State College then tacked on more runs when Tucker and Stewart scored on a two-run single by Beck and Beck scored on an RBI single by Williams.
The lead was the GMCs' (7-6) to lose after the second inning. More runs came home on a two-run double by Kiley Rediger, a three-run home run by Taylor Little, a groundout by Taylor Little, and a two-run single by Kirsten Albright.
The Bulldogs built upon their lead with three runs in the fifth. Jordan Crews started the inning with a single, plating Danielle Downs. That was followed up by Kirsten Albright's single, scoring Jenni McDaniel and Jordan Crews.
After pushing across four runs in the top of the seventh, Darton State College faced just a 15-14 deficit. An RBI single by McClellan and a three-run double by Stewart gave Darton State College life. But Darton State College struck out to end the ballgame with the final score, GMC 15 and Darton St. 14.
Taylor Little, Danielle Downs, Kirsten Albright and Kiley Rediger helped lead the Bulldogs as they combined for 10 hits and 12 RBIs.
In Game Two, A seven-run explosion in the sixth inning hoisted the Bulldogs (7-6) to an 11-3 win in six innings over Darton State College at Couch Field.
The Bulldogs scored in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Caitlin Collins, a two-run double by Kiley Rediger, an RBI single by Sara Alderman, a walk by Kirsten Albright, and a two-run double by Morgan Tillman.
Kiley Rediger racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Bulldogs.
The game was never in doubt after the first, as the Bulldogs scored four runs on a two-run error and a two-run single by Jade Moncrief.
Darton State College scored two runs in the top of the sixth to cut its deficit to one. A solo home run by Tucker and an RBI single by Billie gave Darton State College life. Danielle Downs ended the game by getting Lester to fly out.
GMC will be on the road Friday and Saturday as they head to Marianna, Florida for a weekend tournament.
