GMC Softball takes Two from East Georgia State College

The Bulldogs (10-10) outlasted East Georgia State College on Thursday in Game One after five lead changes, squeaking out a 4-3 win at Milledgeville, Ga.

The top of the first saw East Georgia State College take an early lead, 1-0. Wynn kicked things off for East Georgia State College with a single.

After a quick strike from East Georgia State College, the Bulldogs responded with two runs in the first. The Bulldogs scored on an RBI single by Kiley Rediger and an error to secure the win for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs finally managed to grab the lead after a strong third inning. The Bulldogs went up for good on a two-run single by Caitlin Collins off Arrington, plating Kiley Rediger and Sara Alderman. A two-run single by Caitlin Collins scored Kiley Rediger and Sara Alderman to give the Bulldogs the lead for good.

The Bulldogs held off East Georgia State College, as East Georgia State College was unable to overcome a two-run third inning deficit.

East Georgia State College scored one run in the fourth on an error. Unfortunately, East Georgia State College wasn't able to take the lead back and GMC wins the first of the twin bill, 4-3.

In Game Two for 2 2/3 innings, Madason Messer and Hand engaged in a tight pitchers' duel. In the end, Madason Messer and the Bulldogs hung on for the victory. The the Bulldogs mustered nine hits and, thanks to Madason Messer's stellar pitching, defeated East Georgia State College 9-8 in eight innings at Milledgeville, Ga on Thursday.

The bottom of the first saw the Bulldogs take an early lead, 2-0. The Bulldogs attack began with a single from Ansley Wilbanks. The Bulldogs added more runs when Ansley Wilbanks scored on an error.

The Bulldogs answered East Georgia State College's top inning with one run of their own in the third. The Bulldogs scored on an RBI double by Danielle Downs.

It didn't take long for the Bulldogs to answer as they scored one run of their own in the fourth. The Bulldogs scored on an RBI single by Taylor Little.

East Georgia State College got one-run rallies in the sixth inning and the seventh. In the sixth, East Georgia State College scored on an RBI single by Wilcher, scoring Hewitt.

The Bulldogs scored five runs of their own in the eighth. The Bulldogs scored on an error, a bases loaded walk, a walk by Danielle Downs, and a two-run double by Kiley Rediger that sealed the win for GMC. 

Madason Messer was a workhorse on the rubber for the Bulldogs. Madason Messer allowed two earned runs, nine hits and one walk while striking out four over eight innings of work.

Hand worked out of 21 tough spots for East Georgia State College. She pitched 7 1/3 innings and allowed five earned runs on nine hits. Hand faced her toughest situation in the eighth inning.

Kiley Rediger racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Bulldogs with the double in the eighth inning for the win.  

GMC moved is record to 10-10 and will play again next on the road at South Georgia with a 1pm first pitch
