Bulldogs Sweep USC-Salkehatchie in Doubleheader to get to .500

The Bulldogs kepted their winning streak alive as they matched up in two home games vs. USC Salkehatchie

In game 1, Taylor Little went 2-4 and hit a home run, sparking the Bulldogs to a 7-4 victory in seven innings over USC Salkehatchie on Wednesday at Milledgeville, Ga.

She singled in the first inning and homered in the sixth inning.

The top of the second saw USC Salkehatchie take an early lead, 2-0. Kerby started the rally for USC Salkehatchie with a single. More runs came home for USC Salkehatchie when Kerby scored when Hong was hit by a pitch.

One the Bulldogs baserunners came all the way around to score in each of the second, fourth and sixth. In the second, the Bulldogs scored on a sacrifice fly by Kirsten Albright, scoring Kiley Rediger.

The Bulldogs stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the third, scoring two runs on two singles.

The Bulldogs added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. The inning looked promising, as Kiley Rediger singled, plating Jordan Crews to kick things off.

Two runs in the top of the sixth helped USC Salkehatchie close its deficit to 6-4. A two-run home run by Kerby set off USC Salkehatchie rally. Taylor Little hit a home run in the 6th inning to give them one more insurance run to close out the game with a final score of 7-4 for a Bulldogs win.

In game 2, the Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead on USC Salkehatchie and captured an 8-0 victory on Wednesday at Milledgeville, Ga.

The game was decided quickly as the Bulldogs exerted their will early with six runs in the first three innings.

A walk by Kiley Rediger, an RBI single by Caitlin Collins, a hit by pitch, and a wild pitch in the first inning and an RBI triple by Danielle Downs during the second inning helped the Bulldogs put some runs on the board early.

Jordan Crews was hot from the plate for the Bulldogs. Jordan Crews went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. She singled in the first inning and homered in the fourth inning.

USC Salkehatchie couldn't get anything going as long as Danielle Downs was on the rubber. Danielle Downs gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during her five innings of work.

The Bulldogs piled on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Jordan Crews kicked things off with a solo blast and that closed out the game at 8-0 in favor of the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will be on the road this Saturday, March 19th when they will take on Darton College in their first conference games of the season.  First pitch for the doubleheader is set for 3pm.
