GMC Pounds Out 5 Home Runs in Two Game Sweep of Gordon State College

The bats for the GMC Bulldogs were hot as they pounded out 5 home runs in a two game sweep of Gordon State College at Couch Field to move their record to 21-19 on the season.

In Game One, six first-inning runs helped the Bulldogs (21-19) to a 12-7 win over Gordon State College.

The Bulldogs scored in the first on a passed ball, an RBI single by Jordan Crews, and a home run by Kirsten Albright, who racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs tacked on another three runs in the third inning. A clutch error scored Caitlin Collins to open the scoring in the frame.

Five runs in the top of the fifth helped Gordon State College close its deficit to 10-5. A two-run double by Pickett, an RBI single by Aycock, an RBI single by Sheppard, and a sacrifice fly by Moncrief triggered Gordon State College's comeback. Finally, Madason Messer induced an inning-ending from Godfrey.

After pushing across two runs in the top of the sixth, Gordon State College faced just a 12-7 deficit. An RBI single by Aycock and an RBI single by Glawson sparked Gordon State College's rally. The Gordon State College threat came to an end when Madason Messer got Sheppard to fly out.

In Game Two, the Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead on Gordon State College and captured a 16-5 victory on Tuesday at Milledgeville, Ga in 5 innings. The Bulldogs easily handled Gordon State College pitching as six hitters combined for 12 hits, 11 RBIs and 13 runs scored

Sixteen runs in the first three innings allowed the Bulldogs to put the game away early.

A solo home run by Taylor Little, a two-run single by Jordan Crews, an RBI single by Jade Moncrief, and a home run by Sara Alderman in the first inning. In the second inning a bases loaded walk, a walk by Sara Alderman, another bases loaded walk by Studdard, an RBI single by Ansley Wilbanks,  helped the Bulldogs put more runs on the board to push the lead out.  

The Bulldogs hit three home runs in the win. Additional home runs for the Bulldogs came when Jade Moncrief homered in the third inning and Ansley Wilbanks went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Bulldogs.

Gordon State College jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Gordon State College got things going when Aycock singled. A stolen base then moved Aycock from first to second. Gordon State College then tacked on more runs when Glawson scored on an RBI single by Moncrief.

It didn't take long for the Bulldogs to respond as they scored seven runs of their own in the second to take the lead and not look back.

The Bulldogs return to action Thursday, March 24th against Andrew College with a 2pm first pitch scheduled.
