GMC Softball continues winning ways on the Road

The Softball Bulldogs travelled to Spartanburg, SC Saturday to take on the Spartanburg Methodist College Pioneers. There are truly ugly wins and the Bulldogs came away with 2 of them, running their record to 13-3 on the season.

Game #1

Game One's final score resembled a football score as GMC won the game 17-12 in 8 innings. It was a game that neither team could get the other team out. Offensively, as the score indicates, things went well for the Bulldogs. Jordan Crews led the way with 3 hits/4 RBI/4 runs scored and her first home run of the season. Danielle Downs had 4 hits, Katy Stamey had 2 hits, Anlsey Wilbanks had 2 hits and 4 runs scored, and Natalie Johnson had 2 hits and 3 RBI. Mallory Parson got the win, number 3 on the season, in relief of Madason Messer. The game was tied at 11 at the end of the 7th inning. In the top of the 8th GMC scored six runs to win the game.

Game #2

While game 2 was low scoring compared to the first game, there were still 15 runs scored. Danielle Downs got her 5th win of the season while giving up 4 earned runs. Offensive standouts in game 2 were Johnson 2 hits/2 runs/4 RBI along with her first collegiate home run, Stamey with 2 hits, Crews with 2 hits and Amber Green with 2 hits. The Bulldogs scored runs in the 1st,3rd, 4th, 5th, & 6th innings to put the game away.

"Wins are wins" according to Coach Bunn. "We hit the ball extremely well, we stole 14 bases on the day, and turned 3 double plays. We played a very aggressive hitting team in SMC and we were just able to outscore them."

The Bulldogs start their conference schedule tomorrow in Carrollton against West Georgia Tech. Game times are 3:00 & 5:00pm.
