GMC JC Men’s Golf Takes 2nd 2021 Union College Bulldog Invitational

GMC JC Men's Golf traveled to Bronston, Kentucky, for the 2021 Union College Bulldog Invitational; this tournament proved to be one of the season's most challenging events so far. The Bulldogs posted their lowest round of the tournament on day two with 288, combined with 297 from day one to tie for second place. Austin Quillian led the Bulldogs with one under par for a total of 141 to take second place.

The Woodson Bend Resort Golf Course is not long, but it didn't prove easy for the Bulldogs with its hidden flags and tight fairways. Being the only junior college among the 14 teams, the Bulldogs accepted the challenge by breaking 300 at 297 and landing in fourth place after the first round. Austin Quillian was one of two players under par on day one.

The second round started better for GMC as they shot their best tournament score of 288.  Dylan Humphries finished third, with 73-69=142, led the way with a two-under 69 giving the Bulldogs the first round in the '60s in over three years.  Lurner Benton finished T10 76-72=148, Peter Thayer 79-76=155,  and Noah Hankins 78-80=158.

Coach Van Horn commented, "The men are heading in the right direction and will continue to be strong throughout the rest of this season."

The team travels to Decatur, AL, March 29-30, to compete in the 2021 Calhoun Men's Spring Golf Invitational.
