GMC JC Women’s Soccer Just Miss Against Spartanburg Methodist

On August 27, the Georgia Military College Women's Soccer Team hosted their first game against the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist College. The Bulldogs put on a great show but came up one short.

After an inclement weather delay, the Bulldogs were first on the board when Ashley Still scored off an assist from Maggie Smith. The Pioneers answered 19 minutes later to even the score and picked up another goal to take the lead early in the second half. At the 55-minute mark, JahNiyah Phillip scored for the Bulldogs to tie the game and give the Bulldogs a spark. The Bulldogs stayed on the attack and had multiple chances but could not find the back of the net. The Pioneers scored in the closing minutes to steal the win.

Head Coach Courtney Morgan commented, "While we were not at full strength on Friday, we still played well. I am proud of the girls for not giving up and consistently fighting the entire match. We had a lot of opportunities, but we could not finish, and Spartanburg was able to capitalize on our mistakes."

The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday, September 4, 2021, at home against Motlow State Community College at 11:00 am.
