GMC JC Women’s Golfers Head to the National Championship

Georgia Military College Women's Golf is making its presence known in just the third full year of the program. Sophomore Macy Williams and Freshman Chloe Howell will represent the Bulldogs at the 2022 NJCAA National Championship. Williams becomes the first women's golfer to qualify for two national championships, while Howell becomes the fifth GMC women's golfer to qualify.

Williams has had an outstanding career, with five top 10's, three top 5's, and a runner-up finish; she is the most decorated women's golfer in GMC history. "We are very excited about her success," said coach Guyer; "she works hard on her game and is very passionate about golf." Williams' success is no surprise; she is from Iron City, Georgia, where she attended Seminole High School and won three GSHA Area Championships. She began playing golf at the young age of six years old and credited her love for the game to her father. She hopes to improve on her finish from last year's championships and cement her GMC Golf Legacy.

Howell is from Moultrie, GA, and attended Colquitt County High School; she was an outstanding junior golfer and amassed six tournament wins and eight top 10s. This year Howell performed well, earning one win at the Lake Sinclair Invitational and adding two other Top 20's, including a 14th place finish at the NJCAA District Championship. She commented, "I am very excited to play at nationals; I enjoy challenges, so I think this will be fun." Howell is looking forward to staying focused and delivering her best performance of the season.

The NJCAA National Championships will occur at Wayfair Country Club in Sanford, FL, on May 9-12. For more information about GMC Athletics, visit www.gmcbulldgs.com
