Emil Smith is entering his first year as a offensive assistant/wide-receivers coach. Smith is a native of Gadsen, Alabama, and was a four-year starter at Etowah High School. He played his college career at Georgia Southern University as a wide receiver earning his degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Nutrition.

He has one daughter, Neriya Grace Avraham.
