Kiser Shines at Conference Rifle Championship

Alyssa Kiser, Captain of the Georgia Military College Bulldog Rifle Team made a name for herself at The Western Intercollegiate Rifle Conference that was held February 21-23, 2020, as she finished in the top 20 in Air Rifle and Small Bore and took home the Most Improved Shooter Award for Smallbore.

The Championships took place in Jackson, Michigan where the Bulldogs competed against teams from Grand Valley State, North Dakota State University, University of Michigan, Hillsdale College, University of South Carolina, Michigan State University, Clemson, Purdue, Quincy University, Western University, Akron, Liberty University, Lehigh Carbon Community College, Oregon State University, Canisius and University of Virginia.

Alyssa captured Most Improved Smallbore Rifle in the Season Postal score and the Championship match.  Over the Postal season she shot in October 554; November 532; December 532 and January 545 for a total of 2715. In the championship match held in Jackson, she took third place in the Smallbore High Standing Average with an 88.4.   She placed 16th overall with a score of 535. This was her first year shooting Smallbore and the second time as a Georgia Military College Rifle shooter has received the Most Improved trophy in Smallbore. GMC joined the Western Intercollegiate Rifle Conference in 2017-2018 and Cadet Aaron Hill
was the first recipient of the trophy.

In air rifle postal season, she shot October 551, November 562, December 566 and January 553 for a total of 2798. In the Championship, she placed 20th with a score of 566.  Coach Mary Ellen Eaton was very proud of her air rifle score in the championship match of 566, "that was pretty good for her first year shooting on a college team."

The next stop for Kiser and the Bulldogs will be the NRA Intercollegiate National Championship which will be held March 21-24 at Fort Benning,
