GMC Cross Country Shines In Brickyard Invitational
Nicquelette Fazekas (Dixon, IL) led the Bulldogs women's cross country team to their first regular-season win in the 2020 Brickyard Invitational held at Council Farms. The men's team finished 3rd as Bo Meadors (Plymouth, IN) stepped up to take 11th place with a time of 33:18.
 
In the second race of the year, the Bulldogs keep knocking down milestones. The women's team had their best regular-season performance in program history, scoring 26 points to win. Nicquelette Fazekas finished second overall with a time of 21:56. Paige White came in 3rd with a 23:48. The team scoring rounded out with Stephanie Trejo (8th, 27:57), Samerra Hall (13th, 28:48), and Jennifer Trejo (16th, 31:07), and Gabriella Aquirre posted a 31:17 to finish 17th overall.
 
The men's team overcame despite being without their top three runners to post a solid performance led by Bo Meadors, who ran a 33:18 and finished 11th overall. Also finishing in scoring position were; Jesse Booth (13th, 34.01), Daniel Alvizo (14th, 35:52), Ty Williams (19th, 39:37), and Joshua Dubois (20th, 39:50).
 
 
Coach Sherwood continues to be excited about the team's chances this year; he said, "Both teams ran well despite missing key runners to injuries, every runner ran faster than the previous week, and we look to continue that trend."
The Bulldogs will have a couple of weeks off to heal up and prepare for a head to head match up with NAIA foe Brewton Parker College on October 2.
