Bulldogs Shut Down the Warriors

In their fall opener, the GMC JC Bulldogs shut down the Community Christian Warriors 38-0. The Bulldogs went through most of their roster as they looked to put all the pieces in place for the upcoming season.  On Defense, Defensive End Byron Young set up shop in the Warriors' backfield while collecting two sacks and three tackles for losses. Defensive Back Rod Gattison grabbed two interceptions on the day.  Offensively, Running Back Chris McDaniel had five carries for 108 yards. Quarterback Joe Singletary was 8 of 11 for 81 yards and 2 TD's.

The Bulldogs running game amassed 226 yards on 24 carries. Running Back Tyler Jordan had seven carries for 85 yards and had one TD. The Bulldogs rotated five signal-callers who went 18 for 27 with 165 yards and 4 TD's. Quarterback Donovan Anthony was 5 of 8 for 31 yards and one TD. The Wide Receiver corp saw eight different players catch balls. Chris Williams had four catches for 34 yards and two TD's, Emmanuel Caballero had three catches for 34 yards and one TD,  Colby Cruz had four catches for 27 yards, and Malik Mullins scored one TD.  Coach Williams was happy with how the offense played, "We moved the ball well, and the run game looked good. We need to clean up our ball security."

On the day, the Defense forced seven turnovers and shut down the Warriors' Offense. The Warriors ran 49 plays and only picked up 110 total yards. The Bulldog Defense was just too much for the Warriors' running game, which forced -14 yards on the ground. It was much the same in the air as they gave up only eight completions on 27 attempts and had four interceptions.  In addition to Rod Gattison's two interceptions, Ja'Maric Morris and Enoch Howard each had one interception. Samari Louis, Enoch Howard, and J.T. Lewis each had a fumble recovery.

Coach Williams stated, "I was pleased with the intensity they played with all day. While we made some mistakes, they were hustle mistakes that we will correct with more reps in practice." He continued, "With us only having 15 practices thus far, we just haven't worked on everything we normally would have before the first contest. However, it was exciting to be back playing on Davenport Field."

The team will be back in action on Davenport Field on Halloween, October 31st at 1pm against the Georgia Knights Prep Academy.
