GMC JC Softball Sweep USC Salkehatchie Indians in Mid-Week Doubleheade

The Georgia Military College Bulldogs were back in action on Thursday as they hosted the Indians from USC Salkehatchie in a non-conference doubleheader. The Bulldogs bats were hot; they picked up 25 runs on 22 hits, including five home runs, as they swept the Indians 12-3 and 13-0.
The Bulldogs scored in each of their four plate appearances, picking up one run in the first inning, four in the second and third innings, and three in the fourth, to beat the Indians by run-rule. Each player in the starting lineup had at least one hit in the opening game; Whitley Ward, Mckenzie Graves, and Kinsley Goolsby led the way with two hits each. Makensey Sapp hit her ninth home run of the season, a two-run shot to right-center, tying Jessica Owens for the team lead. Ward and Graves also each hit a solo home run. Jana Shellhorse pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out nine Indians.
Freshman catcher Macy Poisal led the Bulldogs in game two of the doubleheader, going three for three with two home runs. Poisal's first homer was a solo shot that bolted out to straightaway centerfield and her second home run was a three-run line drive that just nicked the top of the fence before going over it. Graves added two more hits, and so did Jessica Owens, while Brianna Painter scored three runs. Beth Eddins and Layla Barron combined for a complete game two-hit shutout.
The Bulldogs were scheduled to host the Highlanders of Gordon State College on Saturday, April 24th, but due to forecasted inclement weather, the games have been rescheduled for Sunday, April 25th at 1:00 pm and 3pm.
