GMC JC Women’s Knocks Off 1st Place Gordon State College 3-0

The GMC Women's Soccer team hosted the Gordon State College Highlanders on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs dominating 3-0 win moves them to first place in the GCAA. Giselle Funes scored two goals, and Havyn Isaac delivered her second shutout of the season.

The game started tight as the teams traded chances early. At the 33 minute mark, Giselle Funes scored her first goal of the game as she floated a ball just over the outstretched hands of the Highlander's goalie, putting the Bulldogs ahead 1-0 at the half.

In the second half, the Bulldogs struck again as Madison Nimmons found the back of the net to stretch the lead to 2-0. The Bulldogs kept the pressure on, and in the last few minutes of the game, Funes scored her second goal to secure the win.

Head Coach Courtney Morgan commented, "Our girls played exceptionally well. They knew this was an important game and came ready to play. I am proud of how they competed and look forward to finishing out the regular season and head into the playoffs."

The Bulldogs will travel to Andrew College on Monday, May 10, for a 3 pm game as they finish the regular season and look to the playoffs.
