GMC remembers the life and legacy of Coach Bert Williams

GMC remembers the life and legacy of Coach Bert Williams

In November of last year Bert retired from GMC after 23 years to spend time with his family as he battled cancer, and today he passed away after a brave fight. Words cannot adequately express what Bert meant to this institution and to the entire GMC community, as his leadership and impact have been felt by so many over the years. Coach Williams gave his all to every player that passed through the gates at Davenport Field, as well as to every GMC student-athlete, and to his fellow co-workers and friends at GMC. With all the professional success he had, it was always his character and love and commitment to the people on this campus that we will always remember. Bert strived to provide hope and opportunity to every GMC student and that effort will be carried on in his honor. We ask that you keep Bert's family, his wife Cathy and sons Parker and Zach, in your prayers during this difficult time. Cathy and Parker are employees at GMC - Cathy a longtime teacher at GMC Prep School, and Parker an offensive line coach for our JC football team. The Williams family are treasured members of our GMC family, and Bert Williams' legacy will forever live on at Georgia Military College.
