GMC JC Women’s Soccer Open Season with 6-0 Win

On August 20, the Georgia Military College JC Women's Soccer team traveled to Spartanburg Methodist to open their season against the Lady Pioneers. After 90 minutes of play, the Bulldogs captured a 6-0 win.

The Bulldogs started the game with a statement from Freshman Maggie Smith, scoring in the 2nd minute of the game. The Bulldogs continued to put pressure on and scored three more times in the first half. Jules Romano got her first goal in the 16th minute, and Giselle Funes scored in the 25th minute. Funes then assisted Ashley Stills' first collegiate goal to end the half. Romano scored again to start the second half, and Madison Nimmons scored her first of the year off a nice pass from Jessica Maldonado to end the game.The defense for the Bulldogs fought the entire 90 minutes to keep the clean sheet. Goalkeeper Lindsey Mathis made five saves in the effort.

Coach Morgan commented, "We still have a lot to work on before we get to conference play. I am very pleased with how we played today and looking forward to how we progress and continue to grow as a team."

The Bulldogs are back in action Friday, August 27, 2021, at home against Spartanburg Methodist at 4 pm.
