MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – The Georgia Military College Bulldogs rifle team earned impressive results in their most recent competition against teams from across the United States, and Fribourg University in Switzler. The late November match was an international competition as GMC Cadets competed against teams from not only across the United States, but from Fribourg University in Switzerland. One GMC team earned second place and the other GMC team finished third in the competition.

The International Rifle Postal Match was hosted by Fribourg University, and eight teams competed from their home rifle ranges. There was a total of 32 competitors that shot in the match representing eight different teams.

This postal match was an Air Rifle Match that required a team made up of four shooters who each shot 40 shots in the standing position with a possibility of shooting 400 points. The winning team was Grand Valley State University from Michigan, with a team score of 1,415. Georgia Military College's Team 1 earned second place with a score of 1,385. GMC Cadet Nathan Corr, of Boyceville, WI, led the team with a score of 358. Cadet Seth Dickison, of Monroe, GA, shot a 353, Cadet Chrisman Harrison, of Woodbine, GA, a 352, and Cadet Banysia Cody, also of Woodbine, GA, shot a 322. GMC's Team 2 shot a 1,329 and came in third place. Team 2 consisted of Cadet Norberto Nieves, of Rockledge, FL, who shot a score of 350, Cadet Maria Bautista, of Jackson, GA, who shot a score of 345, Cadet James Lahrman, of Winter Park, CO, who shot a score of 327, and Cadet Sydnie Pitmon, of Kingsland, GA, who shot a score of 307.

"I was ecstatic to see how well the GMC Bulldogs rifle team shot during this match," said GMC rifle head coach, Duane Clayton. "Both GMC teams did a tremendous job of remaining focused throughout the match resulting in this impressive outcome."

Individually, Georgia Military College's Shooting Bulldogs did exceptionally well, with five shooters ranking in the top 10. Corr ranked third, Dickison fourth, Harrison sixth, Nieves seventh, and Bautista ninth.

Clayton attributes GMC's success to the team's willingness to leave all the Cadet life outside the range and focus on shooting. "We had several shooters that were very much doubting themselves when they began, but they realized after several practices that they needed focus and practice at the basics of

shooting and learning from each other as they continued to shoot to get better. The process is working and they're all are all shooting better because of their drive to compete and do better every day," said Clayton.

After the holidays the team will begin preparing for their next competition, the Western Intercollegiate Conference Championships in February, and The National Championships in March. To learn more about the GMC Bulldogs rifle team and all GMC Athletics, visit our website at www.gmcbulldogs.com.
