Former GMC Bulldog Named Break Out Player by Pro Football Focus

Deavaroe Lawrence has been called the most talented defensive lineman on Auburn's roster by position coach, Rodney Garner for more than two years.  As of yet however, Lawrence's on field numbers have yet to match up with Garner's praise.

According to Pro Football Focus, that may be about to change.  Lawrence, entering his senior season, was named one of college football's 25 "breakout players" to watch in 2016.

After transferring from JUCO (Georgia Military College), Lawrence asw the field for only 26 snaps in 2014 before seeing action on 287 plays last season, " PFF wrote.  "He was stout against the run, finishing at 82.2, including a strong late season stretch agains SEC rivals Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Georgia and Alabama.  He led the Auburn defensvie linemen with a run stop percentage of 7.6, putting him in line for more early down snaps this season.  Lawrence added in a sack, two QB hits and six hurries on his 105 rushes, good for a XX rush, so he's not just a one dimensional player."

Lawrence has appeared in 17 games the past two seasons since joining the Tigers as a junior college transfer in 2014.  Lawrence has recorded 32 takles (three for losses) and a sack during his Auburn career.

"It reallys makes you feel good to see one of your former players doing well, continuing to improve and develop, and to have some exciting opportunities opening for them in the near future.  I know that our program makes a difference fo rthe student athletes we coach, but it is always good to see come concrete evidence", stated Head Coach Bert Williams, Lawrence's former Junior College Coach.
