GMC JC Football Wins Big at Home!

GMC JC Football Wins Big at Home!

After a tough season opening loss to Navarro College, your Georgia Military College Bulldogs got back on track Saturday with a 71-0 blowout against Middle Georgia State University. The overwhelming victory still provided coaches with an opportunity to find areas for improvement, however.

"We dropped a lot of balls at receiver, which was disappointing," said GMC head coach Bert Williams after the game. "There were a couple of times we had easy first downs and a good ball was thrown but we didn't bring it in."  The Bulldogs had several injuries in the secondary after the opening game but the visiting team was still no match Saturday from the onset.

An explosive first quarter proved that GMC had in fact improved upon a number of issues from the first game. The Bulldogs made sure to keep possession of the ball and each time they did, they scored. The Bulldogs went up 27-0 with multiple touchdowns from running back Reginald Davenport and wide receiver Kanore McKinnon.  The Bulldogs' defense only had a few times to be on the field and when they were, they regained possession for the offense. The defensive backs helped to block any holes that the Knights could break through during the game. The defense also held Middle Georgia to just a few yards difference and kept them far away from the goal line.  Offensively, the Bulldogs were able to read the field to continue with their game plans, which deterred the Knights from regaining possession and led to the Bulldogs scoring over and over again. The offensive linemen went toe-to-toe with the Knights to protect the ball and their quarterback. The Bulldogs took the first half with more than half of the game's total points, leading the Knights 48-0.

Within the first few minutes on the clock of the second half, the Bulldogs had already scored another touchdown making the score 55-0. With an added safety, they completed the quarter 57-0. The Bulldogs kept their momentum going into the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs continuously scored throughout the fourth quarter. Within the first eight minutes on the game clock, the Bulldogs scored again, making the game 64-0. In the last 34 seconds, GMC scored for the last time in the game, adding to the 71-0 victory over the Knights.

The Bulldogs will not have another game until Sept. 17, when they travel to Harrisburg, Va. to James Madison University where they are scheduled to take on ASA College. Kickoff for the contest is slated for 1 p.m.
