GMC JC Men's Soccer are GCAA Back to Back Champions

For the second year in a row the GMC Men's Soccer team wrapped up the GCAA Conference Championship by virtue of their win over Andrew College, 1-0.  The NJCAA Division I #16 Bulldogs ran their season record to 12-2 and are riding a 10 game win streak.  The team has used their struggles in early September in Daytona, Florida when they went 0-2 as a catalyst by rattling off 10 wins and only giving up 5 goals in the process.  The team's offense has been firing on all cylinders as they have scored 45 goals in that stretch.  The team has displayed a well balanced attack all year long as the defense has dominated the opponents by only giving up 3 shots a game on goal and averaging .79 goals scored on a game.  Home or away matches don't seem to faze the determined  Bulldogs as they are undefeated 6-0 at home and 5-1 away with a 1-1 record for neutral site matches.

Head Coach Dave Sexton stated, "It was another very close game against Andrew College at their campus on Tuesday.  We knew what to expect from the first game against them which ended in a 1-0 win for us at home – this game followed a similar pattern with our opponents defending very well and us creating several chances to score but being unable to do so.  As the game progressed we were the more likely to get the game-winner, but it looked as if we were headed for over-time until we scored the game winner in the 88th minute with a headed goal from Orlando Lozano off a cross from Jonni Turner.  The team has worked hard all season, so it's great that they have been rewarded with the Region title again this year.  We have three more regular-season games which we will use to prepare the District tournament at the beginning of November."

The team play three more regular season games against Oxford Emory University, Truett McConnell and Andrew College to finish out the regular season.  They then will travel north for a 2 game Regional Championship with hopes of advancing to the NJCAA Division I National Championship in Prescott, Arizona November 13-17th.  The opponents and location for the Regional Championship is yet to be determined.

Stay tuned and continue to follow the Men's Soccer team as they push to new heights in the program.
