GMC Men's team 6th place at MGA Invitational

The Georgia Military College Junior College men's Cross Country team traveled to Macon on Saturday, 8 September to compete in the Middle Georgia State University Invitational at the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course.  The weather was warm, and the competition strong as the Bulldogs ran their second race of the season.  After a slightly disappointing showing on 31 August in Valdosta, the team was looking to improve on their individual times, as well as team placings.

The Men's team was led by Zachary Ansley who finished the 8k course in 34:56 good enough for 27th place.  He was followed by the other scoring runners for the team of Aiden Kerchner (36th), Joseph See (40th), Kalon Fields (42nd) and Artez Edmond (43rd).  Speaking of the race, Coach Rob Sherwood said "Last week we ran a 7.25K, this week is was a full 8k.  Man of the men ran as fast or faster from the previous week, even though the distance was 750 meters longer.   That shows they are rounding into form."  The men's team was also hit with illness with 4 of the top 7 runners unable to compete.  The team finished in 6th place overall, and 2nd among the NJCAA schools at the meet.

The team has this weekend off ahead of the SCAD-Atlanta Invitational in Newnan, GA on 22 September.
