GMC Men's team runs to a 3rd place finish at SCAD-Atlanta Invitational

On Saturday 22 September, the GMC JuCo Men's Cross Country team traveled to Newnan, GA for the SCAD-Atlanta Invitational.  GMC was one of 6 colleges racing at the bucolic wooded property.  Although missing a few runners due to college visits, the team enjoyed their best race of the season.

The GMC men's cross country team was led by Zachary Ashley (Cartersville, GA) who finished the 4 mile course in 9th place.  He was followed by Stone Woods (Ft Stewart, GA) in 11th, Frank Davis (Hackettstown, NJ) in 12th, Aiden Kerchner (Naples, FL) in 13th and Jacob Anglin (Burke, VA) in 16th.  The tight bunching of the team earned them a 3rd place finish in the race.

Head coach Rob Sherwood was pleased by what he saw.  "Despite the heat and humidity, the runners had their best race of the season.  They have been getting lots of miles in their legs over the previous weeks, and the work is paying off."

The team will return to action this upcoming Saturday at Albany State University for the Willie Laster Cross Country Invitational.  The men will run at 9:20 am.  This is the last race prior to the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Conference championship on 17 October in Conyers, GA.
