GMC Rifle Competes Internationally

Competing against thirty two shooters in three different countries from seven universities can be challenging.

Last month Georgia Military College Rifle Teams participated in an air rifle postal match hosted by the International University located in Fribourg, Switzerland.

The match was won by the University of Mississippi Rebels, with Ali Weise taking first place overall with a score of 396. Second overall place went to Anasid Manrique of the Universidad Lberoamericana, Leon, Mexico with a score of 394. Jessica Kelley representing GMC shot individually and scored an awesome 375.

Georgia Military College Bulldog Varsity Team was led by Liliana Reyes outstanding score of 374.  Tristian Swann with a 365; Jacklyn Tidd with a 352 and Raymond Parker's 326 for a team total score of 1417. GMC placed second and the University of San Francisco took third with a 1411.

Four beginner shooters this year at GMC placed fifth representing the ROTC Team.  Cadet August Zoch scored 347; Cadet Taylor-Kay West scored 330; Cadet Roy Melvin a 304 and Cadet Jeffrey Glass 302. Their team score was 1283.

"It was great to have our Georgia Military College Rifle Team represented in this Sixth International Match.  I think the shooters will feel a sense of accomplishment and confidence in their shooting ability with this wonderful experience", said Coach Eaton. 

The next postal match with be small bore against Oregon State on January 11, 2017.
