GMC JC Rifle takes on UT-Martin

Georgia Military College Bulldog Rifle hosted the University of Tennessee Martin rifle team to a sixty shot air rifle friendly competition October 16, 2017.  UT Martin had been on the road for a three day competition with Jacksonville State on Saturday and University of North Georgia on Sunday and then to GMC on Monday afternoon.

Cadet Tristian Swann of Social Circle, Georgia led the bulldogs with an early school record of 555.  His highest score, out of six targets was an outstanding 97 out of 100.  Cadet Jeffrey Glass of Tallahassee, Florida, in his second year of shooting, took second for GMC with a score of 530.  Cadet Ben Hughes of Bremerton, Washington, in his first collegiate match scored a 525 for the team.  Cadet Aaron Hill of Fayetteville, North Carolina scored over a 500 in his first shoulder to shoulder collegiate match with a 512.  Cadet Korrie Harlen from Corpus Christi, Texas, was fifth man for the bulldogs in his first collegiate match with a 466.  The GMC Bulldog Team score for the match was 2122.

The UT Martin team entered two teams; varsity and women.  The varsity team score when the competition was finished was a 2333 led by team member Kaitlin Korinck with a score of 587.  Her third target was a score of 100, the only shooter to score a perfect score during the competition of two relays.  There were a total of 23 shooters.  UT Martin's woman team was led by Brianna Sawyers with her score of 577.  The team score was 2271.

The next match for GMC's rifle team will be on Monday, October 23, 2017.  It will be a 40 shot air rifle postal match with the University of Fribourg, Switzerland.
