GMC JC Rifle set sights on the NRA Nationals

Every year the National Rifle Association sponsors the Intercollegiate Rifle Club Championships at the Fort Benning Military Base in Columbus, Georgia.  Georgia Military College's Bulldog Rifle Team has been participating in this match for a number of years and holds the championship record in the ROTC Division.  Teams and individuals must qualify in an NRA Intercollegiate Rifle Sectional before they are invited to the NRA Rifle Club Championship.

On January 27, 2018 a NRA Sectional was held at the Robert Hamilton Rifle Range at the University of North Georgia.  The GMC Bulldog Rifle Team participated along with Clemson University.  Both teams were shooting for qualification scores and Individual MQS in small bore of 450 and air rifle 495.  The qualifying Team MQS score for small bore were 1800 and air rifle 1980.  Each team can have five shooters, but only the top four scores count for record.

Georgia Military College Bulldog Rifle Team shooters were Cadet Aaron Hill, Cadet Frank Davis, Cadet Jeffrey Glass, Cadet Matthew Futch, Cadet Brick Nelson and Cadet Travaris Freeman.  Both teams qualified for Nationals.  At the end of the competition sectional awards were presented and Cadet Aaron Hill, of Fayetteville, North Carolina was awarded a first place medal in small bore and air rifle in the ROTC category.  Clemson and Georgia Military College Bulldog Rifle Teams both qualified for Nationals at Ft. Benning, Ga. which is held the last weekend in March.
