Three first-inning runs helped the Bulldogs to a 9-4 win over Darton State College in the first round of the GCAAC Softball Conference Tournament at Strong Rock in Locust Grove on Friday. The Bulldogs got the bats going early when they scored in the first on an RBI triple by Danielle Downs, an RBI single by Jordan Crews, and a sacrifice fly by Jade Moncrief.  Taylor Little, Danielle Downs, Ansley Wilbanks and Jordan Crews helped lead the Bulldogs as they combined for seven hits and five RBIs.

One run in the top of the second helped Darton State College close its deficit to 3-1. A solo home run by Stewart set off Darton State College rally but the Bulldogs stopped the rally after Madason Messer got Turner to ground out.  

The Bulldogs answered Darton State College's top inning with one run of their own in the second as the Bulldogs scored on a wild pitch.

Two runs in the top of the third helped Darton State College close its deficit to 4-3. A groundout by Lester and an RBI single by McClellan gave Darton State College life. The Darton State College threat came to an end when Madason Messer finally got Stewart to ground out.

After a quick strike from Darton State College, the Bulldogs responded with two runs in the fourth by scoring on a solo home run by Taylor Little and an RBI double by Jordan Crews. 

The Bulldogs piled on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth with Caitlin Collins kicking things off with a single, plating Amber Green which was followed up by Ansley Wilbanks' single, scoring Jenni McDaniel. 

The Bulldogs advanced to the second round today against South Georgia with a 2pm scheduled first pitch.  GMC has lost all four games to South Georgia this year but are swinging the bats well and are looking forward to the challenge at hand.
