Sarah Middleton perfect from the mound for GMC JC Softball

JC Softball takes 2 vs USC Salkehatchie

History was made yesterday when the USC Salkehatchie Indians came to Couch Field. For the first time in the history of JC Softball, a perfect game was pitched by a Bulldog. Sarah Middleton was perfect facing 21 batters and retiring all 21, no hits, no runs, no errors! Congratulations to Sarah and the defense for this accomplishment.

Game #1

With the perfect game being thrown all the Bulldogs had to do was score a run and they scored 4. The offense was a team contribution with Lindsey South going 2-3 with 2 runs scored, Carly Rigsby going 2-3 with an RBI, and Natalie Johnson going 2-4. Also contributing were Kaedy Borst with 2 RBI and Tara Downs with 2 walks and 2 stolen bases. Final Score: Bulldogs 4 – Indians 0

Game #2

Hannah Henry started game 2 in the circle for GMC but had some control problems giving up 5 hits and 2 walks in the first 2 innings. Through that, she only gave up 1 run. Mackensie Poynter came in in relief and shut Salkehatchie down for the next 3 innings giving up only a walk. GMC bats started to heat up in the third inning scoring 2 in that frame, 5 in the fourth, and ending the game in the fifth by scoring 2 more and winning by the "runs ahead" rule. Kaleigh Sisolak had a big game going 3-3 with a run scored and 3 RBI including the walk off double that ended the game. While no one else had more than one hit, they did come at opportune times with 5 different players picking up RBI, 2 of which were pinch hits. Those hits will be critical as conference play starts next week. Final Score: Bulldogs 9 – Indians 1

"The games yesterday were a combination of a tremendous pitching effort by Sarah in game 1 and a team effort with the bats in game 2. We need to continue to do the things we do well and work on getting more consistent in others as conference play approaches." Coach Bunn

Couch Field will host a double header tonight as the Bulldogs host Thomas University JV at 4:00 & 6:00. Conference play begins Tuesday at West Georgia Tech.
