GMC opens conference play with a win over ABAC

Georgia Military College opened their conference play with an 8-0 win over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

The first half was a back and fourth affair with both teams testing each other until Kajah Newton scored her first goal of the season to put GMC up 1-0. Adisa Nwawel extended the lead to 2-0 by scoring a header off a corner kick. Adisa then scored her second of the game shortly after and extended the GMC lead to 3-0 before half time.

During the second half of the game, GMC drastically expanded their lead. Cecilia Graham scored her first goal of the season with a shot inside the 18-yard box putting the Bulldogs up 4-0 early in the second half. Adisa Nwawel followed up that goal by scoring four goals to put her game total to 6 goals and extending the GMC lead to 8-0.

With an 8-0 lead, Coach Courtney turned to the bench and gave opportunities to several first-year players. Katelynn Bowers barely missed a scoring opportunity as her shot hit off the goal post and cleared off the line.

GMC goes on the road to take on Andrew College at 4:00pm on Tuesday, September 11th before returning home to take on Gordon State College at 7:00pm on Friday, September 14th.
