GMC Lady Running Dogs Qualify Two for NJCAA Championships

The GMC Cross Country Junior College cross country teams saved their best race of the season for the last day of the month of September.  The women's team competed in the Willie Laster Invite hosted by Albany State University on their West Campus. 

The women were led by Jhakira Glover.  She finished the race in 7th place overall with a time of 22:54.  Katelyn Alvarez finished the race in 9th place with a time of 23:50.  Both runners qualified for the NJCAA Division III National Championships in Westover, MA on 3 November with their run on Saturday.  Other scoring runners for the team were Jessica Sinno (14th), Giselle Reyes-Zavalza (20th) and Sasha Soto (24th).  The team had their best finish of the season as they finished 3rd place ahead of a NCAA DII school and NCAA DIII school.

 

The next run that many of the team will participate in will be this weekend at the Army 10 miler in Washington D.C.

 

The next team run will be the GCAA Conference Championship/Region 17 Championship which will be held at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers, GA.  The event will be hosted by Oxford College and will take place on 17 October 2018 at 4:00 pm.
